Tore Midtvedt

MD, PhD

Dr. Midtvedt is a physician specialised in microbial ecology. He defended his PhD thesis at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm in the 1960’s on microbial bile acid transformations and has been working on functional aspects of the gastrointestinal microbiome ever since. For two decades, he worked at Oslo University / National Hospital and since 1983 as a full time professor at the Department of Medical Microbial Ecology at the Karolinska Institute. Dr. Midtvedt has published more than 350 papers cited in PubMed, has supervised several PhD students, and has acted as PhD opponent in six different countries. He is a member of several international scientific societies, and is  Editor in Chief for the international scientific journal Microbial Ecology in Health & Disease.

Elisabeth Norin

M.Sc, PhD

Dr. Norin has a background in Pharmacy, Chemistry and Microbiology. She holds a PhD from Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. Dr. Norin is associated professor at The Centre for Translational Microbiome Research (CTMR) via Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology. at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden.. Her research has been focusing on the complex interactions between gut flora and the host organism in health and disease.

Peter Benno

MD, PhD

Dr. Benno is a physician specialised in gastroenterology. He is working in the Gastroenterology Department at "Östermalms Specialistläkare" Stockholm and Karolinska Institutet (MTC) Stockholm. He has extensive clinical experience especially from antibiotic associated diarrhoea, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). His doctoral thesis at the Karolinska Institute concerned Biochemical parameters reflecting the intestinal ecology of healthy adults and alterations of these parameters in patients with ulcerative colitis or rheumatoid arthritis.

Thomas Grünfeld

MD, MPH

Thomas Grünfeld is trained in molecular biology and surgery/ ObGy. He worked for 5 years as engagement manager internationally in McKinsey & Co, and have long experience from venture capital and private equity, as well as founder of several IT and Life Science start-ups. He has also managed the establishment of the first large scale personalized medicine initiative at Department of Medical Genetics, Oslo University hospital, and has co-authored a text book on gene technology, politics and ethics.

Jacob B. Stolt-Nielsen

BS, Finance and Entrepreneurship

Mr. Stolt-Nielsen is the CEO and founder of Norterminal AS, an Arctic tank terminal and port development company.  He was previous at Stolt-Nielsen Limited (SNL) from 1987 and served in various positions globally, and established and served as President for the global Stolthaven tank terminal network, from 1992 until 2000.  In 2000 he founded and served as Chief Executive Officer of SeaSupplier Ltd. until 2003 when he became Executive Vice President of Stolt-Nielsen Limited.  Since 2005 he has invested in, turned around, and developed numerous companies.  Mr. Stolt-Nielsen is a co founder of Hydrogen Source AS.  He has been a board member of Stolt-Nielsen Limited since 1995, and is on other Boards including Stolt-Nielsen Holdings AS, New York Cruise Lines Inc., Biomed Clinic AS, NIM AS,  in addition to his engagement with Norterminal AS and Hydrogen Source AS.  He has a BS degree in Finance and Entrepreneurship from Babson College and is a Norwegian Citizen.
